Ken Parkinson was appointed vice president, Design, for GM China, effective June 1, 2015. He assumed additional responsibilities for providing design leadership to GM International, which includes design studios in Korea and Australia, effective July 1, 2016.

Parkinson previously served as executive director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture, since 2014. He had responsibility for the interior and exterior design of Chevrolet trucks and large crossovers, as well as leading the Exterior Components & Accessories team and the Global Architecture team.

He had served as Chevrolet brand champion and executive director, Design, for North American Exterior Studios, the Exterior Accessories Studio and the Global Architecture Studio since 2011.

In 2009, Parkinson was appointed vice president, Design, for GM International Operations, after having served as vice president, Design, for GM Asia Pacific from 2007. He was executive director, Design, for Body-on-Frame Architectures from 2004, overseeing the ongoing work in the Full-Size Truck, Hummer, Midsize BFI Utility and Specialty Car Studios.

Parkinson earlier led the teams responsible for creating the production versions of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Aura, Saturn Sky and other vehicles. He also spent three years in Japan leading design projects with various GM partners.

Parkinson began his career at GM as an associate creative designer in 1989.
Education / Experience
Parkinson received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in transportation design from Brigham Young University in 1989.
